You'd think it'd be the same way with words that end in 'uck'. You've got the obvious choices fuck and buck, but then, muck? luck? mukluk?? And then, the entire exercise comes to a screeching halt with truck. Ah well, good try, though. :-)

i'm also a fan of shucking clothes and having certain things stuck in certain places. but overall, you're right ... 'uck' is not half the syllable 'ump' is.
